DESCRIPTION

This is a portrait of a Mermaid. I wanted to avoid doing the obvious background of blue, to represent water, so I thought of other ways to show that she does not live on the earth. I used shells, starfish and seaweed in her hair. I thought that the shell over her ear allows her to hear everything that is going in the ocean as it amplifies sound....that was she can watch over all creatures of the sea. I decided that she would not have irises or pupils because she does not need to focus her eyes in light and dark, she can see all areas underwater.
